"Encuentro con la Cultura - A Tribute To Chile"

Encuentro con la Cultura Press Release August 21, 2012 Dear Members, Friends and Colleagues: Halton Peel Hispanic Association (HPHA) presents: "Encuentro con la Cultura - A Tribute To Chile" On Friday, September 28th from 7:30 - 10:30 pm At the Living Art Centre in Mississauga, 4141 Living Arts Drive Mississauga, ON L5B 4B8 Free Parking Tickets $5.00 “A Tribute to Chile" is a recognition to Chile, it is an unconditional dedication to its people and their unique gift of displaying and emphasizing the importance of their art, music, dance and literature.

This event will compile rich traditions of Chilean music and dance displayed during presentation of "Grupo Chile, who will showcase a wide range of music and dances representing the most important folkloric regions of Chile. Grupo Chile was founded in Toronto, Canada, on June 1993, having as its main objective showcasing Chilean culture to the Canadian community, through the universal language of dance and music. The Group, has gradually developed into a dynamic folklore organization that is known for its discipline, authenticity, expressiveness, and a high level of performance skills.

Pablo Gutierrez from Valparaiso Chile, has been recognized as "The Best Latin Guitar in Ontario". In the year 2000, he performed in Chile at the "Festival del Huaso" the second most important festival in Chile. In 2001, he produced his first album called "Cancion de Amor" and in 2005 he won the first place, at the festival "Cirv Radio. An audiovisual presentation will be given by Hilda Susana Ventura; who will explore the poems of the 1971 Nobel Prize for Literature, Pablo Neruda. Additionally she will provide a brief historical overview of the Chilean literature and the connections between Pablo Neruda and the 1945 Nobel Prize in Literature, Gabriela Mistral. Susana has been a Spanish and Hispanic-American Literature Professor, she has participated in the program "El Turismo Literiario" at the Radio "Voces Latinas in Toronto", she is an active participant, as an oral narrative, at the "Bohemia Cultural Event".

This event will be held primarily in Spanish.

The Milton Centre for the Arts presents the Milton Film Forum in partnership with the Halton Peel Hispanic Association brings you, winner of the 2009 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, the screening of "The Secret in their Eyes" . “Brasas Hispanas 2012” to deliver Latin-style fun for the whole family!

Oakville, Ontario (April 23, 2012) – Once again, Latin music and dance, food and drinks, and fun and games for the entire family will be featured at the Fifth Annual “Brasas Hispanas” on June 10, 2012 in the Halton-Peel regions.

Hosted by the Halton-Peel Hispanic Association*, “Brasas Hispanas” is a celebration of Latin culture as well as an opportunity for families in the area to come out and enjoy a day of sun, fun and making new friends.

The event starts at 11 a.m. and wraps up at 7 p.m., at the Fogolars Country Club, at 2026 Lower Base Line in Oakville. As in previous years, there will also be an outdoor swimming pool, so remember bring your bathing suit, sunscreen and towel!

Tickets are $8 for adults and youth; children under 5 are free.
